Count Down till Launch

Well here it is the eve before our departure from Madeline's home port here in Traverse City, Michigan. My work week has now ended until my return later this month. Laundry is washing, sailor bag is ready to pack and tech gear is charging.

Just a few loose ends before I call it a night so that I will make it to the docks to meet my Captain and crew for the long drive to meet leg#2 in Ohio.

We will be videographing as much as time will allow so stay tuned for some fun videos from the crew.

Sailor's Prayer

The Sailor’s 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my pilot, I shall not drift.
He guides me across the dark waters.
He steers me through deep channels.
He keeps my log.
Yea, though I sail ‘mid the thunders
and tempest of life,
I shall dread no anger, for He is with me;
His love and His care, shelter me.
He prepares a quiet harbor before me.
He anoints the waves with oil
My ship rides calmly.
Surely sunlight and starlight
shall guide me on the voyage I take,
And I will rest in the heaven's port forever.
Amen.

2015 Sailing Adventure begins in 10 days

As I sit here at my land desk I feel restless as the sea calls out to me. Long winter and bitter cold temps here in Northern Michigan are now behind us as we approach our departure date.

This year I have the honor of once again sailing with Captain Bryan Smith of the United States Captain's Training program. Captain is also the Vice President of the Maritime Heritage Alliance here in Traverse City which is the home port for our ship Madeline.

The first leg is now underway with Captain Jan Hale as the crew make their way to our first destination in Algonac.

Stay tuned for updates from all the legs of this years sailing season.

My Leg #3 will depart our home port in Traverse City by car to meet and relieve crew from leg #2 on July 10th. We will be hosting tours on deck at the festival in Fairport Ohio on July 11th.
